At the end of this year the Sunset Country Club era will come to a close.
We are excited to start the new decade with the introduction of Quixote Club. The name is inspired by the character Don Quixote, a man who dared to dream the impossible.
Our purpose is to connect, inspire, and change lives through golf. Proceeds from Quixote Club will be reinvested back into Sumter STEAM Charter School. Through our membership and corporate sponsors, we can be a catalyst to elevate our community by providing a world class education to our youth. Over the next 11 months a $13 million investment will be made to redesign the golf course and completely renovate the main club house. We understand that members will have to make a sacrifice during this construction phase. This you can trust: it will be worth the wait.
The Quixote Club course will feature a Jack Nicklaus II and Kris Spence design. Spence Golf will be doing the reconstruction and restoration of the golf course. The redesign will consist of a new main entrance, enlarging and adding ponds, an expansive practice area, a complete redesign of the entire back 9, as well as significant changes to holes #3, #4, #5, and #6. With this redesign, it is our goal to be recognized as a top ten course in South Carolina and to host a LPGA tournament.
We have engaged Jeff Harbison as the architect for the clubhouse. Jeff was the architect for my two favorite clubhouses: Congaree and Diamond Creek. His vision, along with ours, will transform the clubhouse into one of the most beautiful venues in the state.
Existing Members who become founding members of Quixote Club will receive an extension on their current dues for 2 years after we open. Dues and initiation fees will increase for new members as of January 1, 2020.
During this transition period we have established reciprocity with three golf courses in the surrounding area and each member will also be offered a $50 monthly credit at either Hamptons or Rafters restaurants. Please contact Melissa Hudson at 803-775-5541 with questions about these offerings.
We want to invite you to connect with all we are doing and keep you updated during the renovation process via email and on social media. We encourage you to connect with Quixote Club on Instagram (@quixoteclubsc), Twitter (@quixoteclub), or visit our new website QuixoteClub.com.
We value your membership. Together we can make what seems impossible, possible.
Stay with us as we chase the dream!
